Privacy Policy
This policy covers the two places Project Smith Pty Ltd collects data: gameplay telemetry inside FOXFIRE, and analytics on this website, getfoxfire.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Last updated: 4 August 2026
FOXFIRE is developed and published by Project Smith Pty Ltd (ACN 695 431 513, ABN 37 695 431 513), a company registered in New South Wales, Australia. getfoxfire.com is owned and operated by Project Smith Pty Ltd.
Privacy questions, corrections, and data requests: [email protected]. We reply within two business days, AEST.
Anonymous gameplay statistics, used solely to balance and optimise the game:
No name, email, postal address, date of birth, Steam ID or account identifier, payment details, contacts, or location, and no free text. The telemetry schema contains no field capable of holding personal information, and IP addresses are not stored in the telemetry dataset. Telemetry is not used for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making, and is never sold or shared for marketing.
A TELEMETRY checkbox on the start screen switches it off at any time.
Telemetry is transmitted over HTTPS to a Google Cloud Run endpoint operated by Project Smith Pty Ltd, and stored in a Google BigQuery dataset in the australia-southeast1 (Sydney) region. Player data stays in Australia.
As with any web server, the Cloud Run endpoint that receives telemetry may process your IP address transiently at the network layer, and it can appear briefly in server request logs. It is never written into the telemetry dataset and is never linked to your gameplay data.
Access is restricted to the company's own service-account identity. The distributed game contains no credential capable of reading data; its token can submit a batch but never retrieve one. The server rejects any upload that does not originate from a clean, published, signed release build matching an active registry entry, so telemetry cannot be forged or injected from modified builds. Automated tests enforce these boundaries on every build.
Raw telemetry rows are retained for 24 months, then automatically deleted. Beyond that, only aggregated balance statistics remain, with no per-install identifiers. You may request earlier deletion of data tied to an install ID by email; the install ID is visible in the game's local log folder.
getfoxfire.com uses Google Analytics 4 for aggregate visitor numbers: pages read, rough geography, links followed. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data under Google's privacy policy. We use it only to understand what content is useful. There is no advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking, and website data is not sold.
You can block it with any standard browser content blocker or Google's official opt-out add-on, with no effect on how the site works.
Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with what was written about. Mailing-list addresses are used solely for FOXFIRE updates, with an unsubscribe link in every message.
Steam, Discord, and YouTube collect and process data under their own policies, which Project Smith Pty Ltd does not control. We receive no personal information about individuals from these platforms beyond aggregate, non-identifying statistics.
Steam leaderboards display the public Steam persona name you have already chosen to make visible. Leaderboard data lives in Steam's services, not ours.
Access, correction, and deletion requests: [email protected].
EU and UK visitors have GDPR rights, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Australian users may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) — though we would appreciate the chance to fix it first.
FOXFIRE is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the telemetry collects no personal information from anyone, it does not identify players of any age. If a child has supplied something via email or the mailing list, contact us and we will delete it.
We update this policy as the game changes, and update the revision date at the top accordingly. Material changes are announced in a Steam and site update post, not made quietly.
