FOXFIRE ships with 19 base weapons and 19 evolutions. Weapons aim and fire themselves; the player flies. Level-ups grow each weapon, and a fully levelled weapon paired with the right passive evolves — a new name, a new behaviour, and an upgrade ceremony that is not subtle.

Eleven of the nineteen are in the current build and indexed below. The remaining eight are still being tuned, and we'd rather document them once than twice.

Full guides

Three weapons have full guides so far, with behaviour, evolution pairing, and hull recommendations. More as we write them.

How evolutions work

The grammar comes from the genre: max a weapon, hold the right passive, get the unhinged version. Every base weapon has exactly one evolution and one paired passive, and the pairing is discoverable in play — the weapon guides here name them for anyone who'd rather read than gamble a run on it.

What we'd add to the grammar: a FOXFIRE evolution is a different weapon that remembers where it came from. The Ballistic Gun's measured cadence becomes the Gatling Gun's dense stream. The Mining Laser's cutting burst becomes the Laser Broadsword's sweeping arc. Numbers go up too, but the point is that the behaviour turns.

Several weapons are also built around the movement system itself. The Anchor converts velocity into damage. The Afterburner weaponises the act of thrusting. If a weapon seems undertuned while you're hovering, the problem may be the hovering — the hulls that move well feed them best.

Questions

How do weapon evolutions work in FOXFIRE?

Fully level a base weapon and pair it with the right passive, and the next upgrade offers its evolved form. Each of the 19 base weapons has exactly one evolution, and evolutions change behaviour rather than just numbers — the Ballistic Gun's measured cannon becomes the Gatling Gun's sustained stream.

How many weapons are in FOXFIRE?

19 base weapons and 19 evolutions. Eleven of the base weapons are in the current build and documented in this index; the remaining eight will be added as they stabilise.

What is the starting weapon in FOXFIRE?

The Ballistic Gun — a turret-mounted cannon that rotates a full circle and aims itself. Every run starts with it, and it exists partly to teach the game's first lesson: the ship's nose is for flying, not aiming.

Do all FOXFIRE weapons fire automatically?

Yes. The arsenal aims and fires itself, in the survivor-like tradition. The player's hands are on the thrusters — positioning, dodging, and deciding which threat to fly at are the manual parts.

What is the strongest weapon in FOXFIRE?

Tier lists age badly and hull pairing matters more than raw ranking. A weapon that suits a drifting Freighter can be wasted on a Scout that's never in one place long enough to use it. The individual weapon guides cover which hulls suit which weapons.
